Does it bother you or not when seeing the fish suffocate and struggle desperately, or do you just try to show as much decency as possible and get it over and done with quickly?

Yes and yes, I really try my best for a clean and quick release. I also try and set the hook pretty fast when I get a bite, I’d rather lose the bite than get a gut hook but that’s just me.

i could not care less about seeing the fish struggle if im going to keep it. If im releasing it, im going to do it as fast as possible.

A fish should never suffocate. Just sack up and kill it in a quick and decisive manner.

If it’s for keeping I will smack it’s head with something, and then bleed it, it’s a very humane way

Bleed it out by cutting the gills. This will kill it quickly and the meat will be better.
Well, Dude I can understand your feelings. Why not get a live cage, or stringer if you are planning on keeping a few fish. Otherwise, toss them back into the water as soon as you unhook them.. Just Sayin...RJS
Where in the Bible does it say God gave us animals to eat?
A: In Genesis 1:29 God speaks to Adam, "And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb-bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for food. And to all the beasts of the Earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground--everything that has breath of life in it--I give every green plant for food.
Doesn't mean we should be cruel. I toss the fish I intend to eat in an icebox. Just Sayin...RJS

my partner caught a 4 pound bass yesterday
the fish had evidently swallowed the hook
and though my partner(Larry)did hi level best to gently remove the hook
he was unable to,and the fish was bleeding badly
so Larry cut the line and released the fish
I saw tears runnin down his face
Larry is strictly catch and release
I told him it was sad but the hook would hopefully rust out
and if not
well alligators have to eat too
so the fish really wont be wasted

I guess the carnivores weren't listening.
Sitting here trying to come back with some remark. Like the ASPCA commercials. All have some validity but how many people commenting ever thought about abortions??? That fetus has rights as a living organism.

I once butchered a shark (been right AT 40 years ago, I can't remember what kind){But, I'm CERTAIN, that it was "the good eating kind"}, y when I opened 'er up, ¡6X live "pups" came out of her, onto the deck! They seemed AWFUL LIVELY, y so, I gottem into a bucket of sea-water. Once I'd gotten "Mama" on ice; > watching them swimming around in that bucket, for a very short while; back in the Atlantic Ocean they went.
