We catch them a lot on FL gulf coast especially on low slack tide around oyster beds. Caught a lot while shrimping too. They bite quick and feel like someone clamped down on you with vise grips. They have another set of crushers in the back of their throat that can do some damage. Luckily only caught by the front set. Never heard of anyone eating them before and many cut their line rather than chance getting bit getting their hook back even if lip hooked. Have small horns on body so hard on bare hands so use glove or rag to handle.
Go get 'em, Mikey ! Since we know that fish fear the sound of your name, don't let word get around that you're comin' ! If they know it's you, they'll be down there deep, quiverin' in their hidey-holes and you'll get nary a nibble ! Tight lines, bro !
