Thanks Fredfish. Good Point!

I just noted a typo in my previous comment -- should have been "black lures" not "lives". Don't matter.

Shake a little table salt on my tongue, between those morning cups of coffee.

I have a full top. Have allready had melanoma skin cancer. Wife gets her sun on the bow, I troll with rodholders and downriggers and a remote control kicker motor. Fish in the morni g, find a nice private cove when it gets hot. Drop the anchor and jump in and swim a bit, have lunch, listen to some music, jump in again. Evening comes, pull up anchor and fish again! Not a bad day!

My wife tells me we "are" getting a bimini top for our boat. I think it will only be in the way. I wish I could rent
one In order to prove one of us wrong. i would dread spending over $600 for something i wasn't sure of. I could buy a couple new Shimano baitcasters & st chroix rods for that kind of money & I'm certain they work.

Yeh, BUT; It's amazing how often "Yes, Dear" is the right answer. (Unfortunately)

Unless you are jigging up and down, no casting, it shouldn't be in the way. Of course if you have a 32ft or larger, will not be any problem. A friend of mine put a pvc pipe on the back of his seat and mounted umbella's to them, to come on and off. After just one trip they came off, I didn't use one and caught most of the fish. Out of 54 caught, he had caught 6. He was using his spinning reel, and had to cast side ways, and wasn't accurate at any long distance over 25ft or so. But he did say he felt cooler under, as long as we were facing the right way!

I would go fishing almost everyday when I was working. Sumer and winter. Now I can’t take the cold or the heat. Last few days here in. Clovis, NM has been 104. South of Roswell NM even hotter. I worked grave yard shift. I am 75

Beats the hell out of buying a new boat OR you buy it, tell her it was $1200 and pick up your new Shimano/St Croix combos. A win/win in my view 😉

My boat is only 20 ft long. The manufacturer has a bimini top but it's only 4 ft wide which really doesn't provide a lot of sun protection unless you're directly under it. I have a smaller boat & a few years ago I mounted a pvc pipe & added a tall umbrella. She had shade but didn't like the looks of the contraption as she called it. I wear
a large straw hat which helps a lot. Life's a bitch then you die.
