That's exactly what I use to catch catfish! What are you trying to catch?

They would have a feast in Texas at my sisters house. This is during the month of Sept when I'm back there for dove season. Don't know how long they're there. But for the month of Sept at least.

You might suggest that sis adopt a few chickens! Eggs are always nice to have.

She would prolly love to but she lives in a housing development and they wouldn't allow it.

If you use crickets for bait, I know where you can get a few.

My wife, myself, and four kids were camping on Lake Austin (Town Lake) years ago. I wade fished at night for black bass. My wife talked me into taking the kids fishing. Back then I was a hard ass bass fisherman and always went by myself. I also had a temper. Anyway we motored around a while looking for minnows but all we could find was crickets in the tube with the cricket hole. So, I found a place that looked good to fish. I baited up all four lines, cast them, and it wasn’t long all four reeled in at the same time. Trying to be a patient good daddy I asked my wife to give me the bait tube so I could rebait their hooks. She insisted on learning to bait a hook. She said if I’m going to be married to a fisherman I’m going to learn how to bait a hook.
So, instead of moving the lid around to match up holes, she took off the lid. Crickets were going everywhere. She screamed when they got on her, two of the kids were crying, one was screaming, and our daughter was picking them up and naming them. That was enough for me so we went back to camp. For an entire year, when I went in the garage, I could hear crickets chirping in my boat. 😲

Now all that's funny. Thanks for the mental pictures and laughs. Guess I'm fortunate that I can't hear crickets. Or any high pitched noise for that matter.

Oh, I caught hell that night from my “fishing buddy wife” about losing my temper. I just didn’t have the patience back then like I do now with my grandkids.

I can relate. I remember tryin to take both my girls out at the same time stream fishin. I would get 1 girls line out and before I could get the other ones line out the 1st one was hung up. Then vice a versa. Kept doin this for bout 30 min. and couldn't fish at all. Finally just quit and didn't try it again. IF I could do it all over again I would only take 1 girl out at a time and that would have worked better. Still regret not doin that.

Yeah, I regret now how I handled that. In 1994 we lost the youngest boy in a car wreck. He was 20. He was the one scared of the crickets. Can’t go back, though I wish I could. Thanks Saw
