If you use crickets for bait, I know where you can get a few.

No, these are the regular black crickets. They're everywhere there.

When they get like that here, I collect them and turn my chickens into cricket eating machines.

They would have a feast in Texas at my sisters house. This is during the month of Sept when I'm back there for dove season. Don't know how long they're there. But for the month of Sept at least.
I had a cricket cage full of crickets I got near sequoia N P for bait. It seems like they should of worked but like any and all fishing equipment and bait it really is more as bait for the fisherman and ladies. It really doesn’t have to catch a fish to sell. We saw a fish or two but never hooked any. I went and bought a huge foot or so around round steak to BBQ. 28 or so years ago

for some reason the fish wont eat those black crickets, at least when I tried them, i could not buy a bite
I tried them once many years ago. I'd hook it in the tail and float it down the little pond in the stream behind the dam. Those trout could pick the cricket of the hook and never touch the steel.
The black Mormon cricket,I've caught rainbow trout,a paid place. Booths fee fishing in aurora-illinois. We limited out on trout in less than a hour

Saw- I was just jurking the chain a little. My brother lives in Houston and am aware of the crickets.
I agree that fish (bream or even catfish) won’t eat the black crickets. Tried it twice in my youth (probably 45 yrs ago). Had a nibble or two but my boat buddies fishing with grey crickets caught limits. Cricket color was only difference.

I wasn't aware that the fish were prejudice. Can't even get the black bass to bite?
I always thought that crickets made good fish bait.
Did use those crickets once a few years ago and don't remember catchin any fish with them. Guess I won't be usin them any more. Where do you find grey crickets? Not sure I've seen them.
