I have concealed carried for over 40 years and do not go anywhere without my friend. Have never needed it, but in this day and age of craziness it pays to be safe and prepared!!

Sad but true. No more going to bed with the doors unlocked.

Where I live here in Georgia I always carry mostly concealed but every now and then Ill carry concealed. If i go out my door for any reason even yardwork.... I carry. Its part of my daily patdown..KEYS..KNIFE WALLET PISTOL.. Rather have it and God knows i hope it never has to leave my holster.. and not need it than need it and not have it..

I feel the same way H313 - have had concealed permit for probably 15 years or more now - before that didn't need one as open carry was fine here in the west. Always had gun in gun rack until the thefts started occurring in the area. Even had one in the rack back in High School days - just common out here.

It’s like insurance; you carry it and hope you don’t need to use it And when you need it, you NEED it!

I have NO problem with guns or gun ownership, CCW or otherwise. Have some myself. Just saying I’ve been mugged, fleeced by police (foreign) been face to face with large critters and never needed a gun. Lost $30 bucks but so what. Situation wasn’t worth shooting someone. It’s only money. Was more scared by the moose in Sept. rut than the mugger. Pistol just not needed by anybody very much. CCW is more of a security blanket than a deterrent.

I remember well the day I moved to the Black Hills in 1988. My girlfriend and I went to the Rushmore Mall in Rapid City and parked next to an F150. There was a Model 70 rifle and an 870 shotgun in the gun rack in the back window, the windows were down and the keys were in the ignition. What that told was there was no crime as everyone was armed. Simpler times then. Open carry in the mall and grocery stores... nobody batted an eye. Today, they call the SWAT team.

More concerned with protecting family from some devastating incident - I will do what has to be done in an emergency situation. The wife has even asked many times when we are out if I was ready for the worse - absolutely if necessary. Like was said to each his own thanK you.

Those were the days. We never even thought about locking the doors at the house till about 10 years ago. Now days doors are locked even when we are home. And most of the time (except on the shower) a firearm is within arms reach. Hate to say it but that is life now days.

Mark-man that’s really good to hear and I applaud you and respect your views. In my situation that being in the woods what if my wife and I are strolling along and run face to face with a 400# wild boar? What if my wife and I are driving to the airport and break down or hit by a high gang member on a bad street? Police are not gonna respond to a broken belt. There’s danger and just plain mean people out there, they’ll see you coming but you won’t see them. They do not live by any rules. The best to ya my friend.

Being a resident of a state which does not recognize the second amendment, I do not have the option to protect my family and myself without begging permission (which is almost never granted to the unconnected) from the almighty state. If I carry without permission I am no longer a law-abiding citizen. If I am attacked and am forced to shoot my assailant my prison term will exceed his, due to the weapons charges. Whatever happened to “shall not be infringed”?

Here is one reason why I carry a hand gun. Two weeks ago a turkey hunter was supposed to meet his friends in a town called Liberty. About 15 miles from home. He never made it and a subject of interest was seen driving his vehicle. There has been a man hunt everyday since and he is believed to have broke into a house about a mile from my house this week. Whoever broke in to the house, stole a gun, food and clothing. Keeping the doors locked and the guns loaded. Russ

Ok, let me try this again. You know your going say to a lake, you know at the ramp is a sign that says no firearms, out of respect for the lake manager, do you take your gun with you that’s in a tackle box or do you lock it in some sort of compartment in the vehicle? True that the fish are no threat, just getting an idea of what we would do. Myself, I would take it so as to know where it is.

I wouldn’t have a reason to go to a lake like that. I’ve never seen one so they must be fairly isolated.

Yes, mister twister. I have 1 In my tackle bag, plus extra ammo, 2 in my truck, 1 in both boats & a shotgun on my tractor. I carry at all times. If your firearm is not readily at hand it is useless if confronted by a felon. I hand load all my ammo & shoot a couple times a week. I do carry factory loads in my handguns because I don't want some yo yo saying I deliberately hot loaded a round or any of that stuff. Good luck.

Totally agree. Keep them close. Might be a rabid LM that tries to attack me. I will have it close enough to be available in an emergency if ever needed. I do pack even at state parks. As mentioned do you think the perps are reading and obeying the signs - NOPE.
