For sure.

Permits are suggestions by current lawmakers. Permits are not mandatory by law. The 2nd amendment is the right. Lawyer wrong. By that endorsement of the constitution you carry you wear anywhere any time. Now common sense over rules some of that.

The Supreme Court has ruled that your right to carry, just like your right to speak, is not limitless. And it can be constrained. We are still trying to figure out, through the courts, by how much.

There is still that gray area to some in the judicial system and why I don’t know. If we as common every day folks can read and see what the 2nd says, why can’t they? How much plainer could they have made it?

Personally I think they could have made it a lot clearer, but I'm sure they had their reasons for not doing so. That was a pretty bright bunch that put together that document. That part about "a well regulated militia" kinda makes me scratch my head. Those words don't have the same meaning as they did in the 18th century. My thought is that they the wanted the people to be able to stand against the government with force of arms should it become necessary. Well, good luck doing that now days.

Those words today are wasted. Didn’t work then either. I know you remember a county here that became famous for that same thing. It eventually fails too. The free state of jones headed by Newt Night. Did the right thing but did it the wrong way.

It might be easier than you think. Viet Nam and Afghanistan might come to mind.

The people who live in this country now can't even get up off the couch to change the channel on their tv's.
The people who live in Afghanistan will cut off their enemy's balls and wear them as earrings. Timothy McVeigh was able to bring down an entire government office building full of unarmed bureaucrats, and where is he today? Pushing daisies. We used to be a country of fierce warriors who ruled the air and the seas. You messed with us at your peril. Now any comparison of us to Afghanis or the Viet Cong ends at the end of a remote control. I am talking about the general population, not our special forces who are still among the elite warriors of the world. How many of those are there? Dream on. My opinion - if the government actually wanted to come take away our guns they would have already done it a long time ago. There's absolutely nothing stopping them. Oh I know "from my cold dead hand". OK.

Little big horn comes to mind. But Custer was a highly intelligent idiot. His horse lived though. Spirits heart is in the right place Saw, just not enough though.

Hey Spirit...
What's the topic on F.S. that has garnered the most responses to date? I figure if anyone knows, you'd be the one.

If that's true then no one knows. I joined the stage last August, so you've been on here longer than I. I believe I've seen some that were up around 15 pages or so. That's probably a good question for Admin, they may keep track of stuff like that. If some of the other long posts are any type of gauge, then it's probably something like which window you should open and how much to crack it on your car in order to get the best ventilation on a hot day. Mister twister has started a couple of good ones that have gone on for a while - this one and one about changing a tire on a boat trailer.

Presently one of MTs posts, pocket knifes, is up to 15 pages. Just sayin.
