Not the one I got from you. I also have 1 or 2 of the red 5000s and the spool is a little wobbly on one of them and the line gets caught between the spool and the side plate on the inside of the reel. Hard for me to explain. It gets inside the reel and there is no way to get it out. Had to cut the line and then try to pull it out. Not sure it all came out. I don't use that reel anymore.

I have a browning low profile that did that and a 4600 ambassadeur also had them fixed for near nothing.

I found a reel guy over near Spirits place. Told him about the guy and he called him and took one of his reels over there and said the guy was good and only charged him 10 bucks for the minor fix.

I had that little browning on a browning boron rod when boron came out man years ago. Well had two of those rods. They were recalled for safety hazards. Those rods would actually blow up and send rod pieces into you and anything within 10’ go off and sound like a gun. I put the second one up with a note on it to never be used.

He gave me a couple of his business cards, I didn't pay a lot of attention. You want his number and address, I'll give it to you. Let me know.

I had that trouble once on a red 5000. The red reel has bushings in place of bearings on each end of the spool shaft so I replaced the bushings. Cured my problem. I have ambassador 4500 & 5000 that I've used & used hard since the 70's & they function like they did new. I have 1 5500C high speed striper reel that I have abused for 40 years. It's my favorite catfish reel & when the stripers are feeding below the dam I use it on a 12 foot
lamaglas rod. I removed 2 of the 4 brakes in order to get a little more distance. I've had catfish,,stripers & spoonbill pull practically all the line off with the drag screwed down tight. I've changed both brakes & drag washers several times. I've been thinking about getting those new carbon fiber drag washers. Anyone ever use them? I probably need to get those new high speed bearings for it. Good luck & tight lines.
