Hey Spirit are you kidding that's one of the best knives around...have one in a leather case that housed a pepper spray I had given to our daughters. Purr-fect fit. Got one while on cruise in France. Price was right...I think. But still had to get another Swiss army knife for the cork screw. Seems I always left the cork screw behind.
I'd send a picture but I seem to be outsmarted by this forums method of posting pictures...
Go to your last post and select "edit".
Go to the bottom and select "choose file"
Navigate to the picture you want and click it
You'll be taken back to your post, select "add"
Give it a bit, it can take a while
You'll see your photo
Select "update" or "send"
Pretty simple

I know. But carbon steel is not at all like stainless which is what a lot of the pocket knives we've been discussing are made out of. It's a very nice knife for the price, exceptional in fact. But it does need some tic or it's gonna probably rust away over its lifetime. Get some good honing oil and wipe it down and clean it up every once in a while, treat it right and it will treat you right.

Hey I have one of those. Reminds me should take a look at it. It’s in a fishing vest and I forget about it.
Thanks for the advice on posting...guess I don't wait long enough.
As for the Opinel knife got it in 73 it's been well used still looks brand new like the rest of my knives. Except for a few of my TL-29's look like they have been blued but razor sharp. I will attempt to send pictures of a couple of knives I picked up in Germany in 73. Automatics with a side switch & horn handles. The store owner was a former POW in the states, Nebraska, & hated Americans but loved the American dollar. Told him he fared much better than our guys did in German hands. I'm not very PC...

Might like Carrie is a Gruber air Force ranger paratrooper pretty sure it's aircraft aluminum super lightweight and thin in the pocket, Holden edge forever. For a little bit heavy work something some weight non-locking nice buck with phenom wood handle of course medium-weight, good size no reason to be shy. Lol
Check Amazon for the Mora knives...especially is you have Amazon Prime...best prices...

This is a nice little pocket knife I picked up a while back when they were on sale for under 10 bucks. Very light and blade locks open and closed. But. It is carbon steel, kinda soft. It will take an edge, boy will it, but it won't hold it well and it will tarnish and rust up on you if you don't keep it sparkling clean. Not for everyone.

Spirit, just touched up this knife. Boy howdy does it take an edge. Always thought it just some French cheese slicing knife, lol. Threw it in my flyfishing vest, since I mostly c&r when fly fishing kinda forget about it.
Nice looking knife bric. Great little pocket knife. Yeah you can shave with one of those, but then you'll have to sharpen it again when you're done with it.
Hey Gents, Another great is the Glock knife. Has a finish on it that will not rust. Hold an edge is the price is grreat. Put my USMC Kabar away for safe keeping & replaced it with the Glock. Like the original better was a smooth back edge vs the saw blade.
The knives were developed in close cooperation with the special forces Jagdkommando (lit. Hunting Command) of the Austrian Army and are suitable for throwing.[4]
Both knives have clip point blades made of SAE 1095 spring steel with a hardness of 55 HRC and are phosphate-treated. Spring steel offers a high yield strength for good impact resistance and flexibility but low corrosion resistance.[5]
The grips and sheaths are made of Glock-polymer. The Survival Knife 81 is available in the colors olive drab, battlefield green, desert sand, flat dark earth, gray, and black. The Field Knife 78 was available in desert sand, olive drab and black.[6] The upper crossguard is bent forward to allow it to be used as a bayonet on the Steyr AUG rifle.[7] It can also be used as a bottle opener.
Nothing is stopping anyone from buying a stainless steel Opinel !! I still prefer the high carbon 1s tho.

I just saw that on amazon. Didn't know that was an option. The one I have has the carbon steel blade and it will just lay there and tarnish if it gets anywhere near the ocean. 21 years in the Navy taught me a thing or two about corrosion. You don't want it to rust away you better paint it or polish it daily.
