I get NOVIDEO but that is fine it keeps showing the only fake news channel there is anyway ( Foxnews ). I saw a comment on the fake channel it is probably correct. A skate that is folded...young maybe slightly deformed or been cut etc. It just figures Fox has a link that doesn't show what is advertised. Click bait. Bogus News site anyway.

I feel sorry for it. Did you cut your line and return it to the water?

I didn't catch it. It was a post here with a picture and a link. The original poster was asking for help in identifying the creature. I had no idea what it was but got involved in the conversation. I don't know what happened to it either.

Saltwater Sportsmen magazine has a section in each issue about fish identification. They use biologists from the Motte Aquarium for identification. If you send the pictures into the magazine they will identify it for you. I think with this creature you might even make it in the magazine. If not familiar with the magazine, pick one up at most any magazine/book store. It's a good magazine.

I googled "spotted ratfish" and , yes that appears to be what it is..... however, the "wings" (pectoral fins) are not visibly placed correctly in the photo for some reason, and look more like additional tails. Might just be the perspective. Watched the video, but it won't let me load a second time...?? ....IDK !
