@ Mister Twister
Why would I want to convince you to use braid? Makes no difference to me what you use. If you are catching fish, more power to ya.
Braid is expensive, has low abrasion resistance, and most anglers use a leader anyway. By the way, I use braid on almost all of my reels lol.

I have over 30 or more fishing rods including fly rods.not sure how many I have! Lol but I fish the Allegheny river a lot all year and the rocky bottom and shoreline are abrasive to mono. I fish from shore , jet boat and kayak. Some casting, trolling lures and live bait in the winter. Snags are common on rocks and submerged logs. Most snags I can pull out with braid and save my lures where mono normally would break. I use mostly mono fishing lakes in western pa and NY including Erie.

I use braid because I use barbless circle hooks to fish for trout. Braid doesn't stretch like mono and because of that it works more effectively with the hook and (imho) it's easier to keep pressure on the fish while reeling it in.

Hi guys, I’m a bass fisherman from west coast now living in Cincinnati. Thought I’d comment on braid line. Love it’s strength, small diameter, that it cuts right through grass, no stretch and floating characteristics. Don’t like the visibility, no sensitivity when it’s slack, noise it makes rubbing. So I use it only on spinning rods with a fairly long...20 leader. And I use it when in heavy grass like flipping and a frog. Honestly it’s more trouble then it’s worth casting due to poor abrasion resistance in rocks (cut line too many times on big fish in rocks). It’s too visible thus less bites so need a leader except in heavy cover or muddy water. And I hate a leader knot going through casting rod guides. Finally on reaction baits it’s just to fast and unforgiving thus fish not getting the lure deep enough in the mouth. So there is my opinion for what it’s worth!

I also agree with N. fl Bassman.....
Unless you are using a top water Frog lure, and then you may want to go with 50 or 65 lb braid and 30 to 40 lb. flor. Or just straight tie on to the braid in really heavy cover.

Not yet in late season no shots close enough! Choose my shots close enough. As Clint said “a good man knows his limitations “!

I like braid over mono because it doesn't have memory, it comes off the spool straight every time even after years of use. I fish in NJ mostly inshore and offshore and have several reels spooled 3 years ago. I find that a few wraps of mono tied with a uni to uni knot then get it packed on tight. If you take it to a shop to get it spooled and the guy says I hate this line go somewhere else.
