I'm a retired heavy equipment operator(30 years)and a retired 31 year commercial fisherman (hook & line) 6 pack charter Capt out of PSL (Port San Luis) was the second person in the state to get a live fish license from stat and was instrumental in first developing this industry on the Central Coast of Calif. I have commercially fish Tuna(jig boat)Salmon(troll) Halibut (dragger) but gave it all up to get into the live fish biz until I retired in 2002. I build my own rods and lures and pour my own lead. Currently I run an 18'center console Bay Runner with tuna tower, 70 hp Yamaha, twin Scotty down riggers. I now only sport fish for Rock Cod, Ling Cod, Halibut, White Sea Bass and Salmon. When the Albacore get within 50 miles I chase them too.
I do fish fresh water at near by lakes when the ocean is to rough and target Large and small mouth bass, trout and pan fish. I eat, at a min one fresh fish meal a week!
