This is definitely a Jack and they are plentifull in the SW Florida. They will eat almost anything including jig, live bait, shrimp (dead or alive) etc. They are famous for the good fight and can get really big in size. It is pretty common to see a large school of them jumping out of water while chaising a school of baitfish. Just cast your jig in the middle of their area of action and expect an instant bite. I only eat them by adding a few pieces of fillet while making a fish soup.

In SW Florida the best bait working for them is shrimp (alive or dead, even stinky) and fidler crab. Try to use a light rod and smaller hook and watch out for their very light nibble, otherwise they will leave yours hook naked.
