The earliest pay work I can recall was cutting christmas trees to sell to the shippers. Dad provided the stumpage and transportation so that was good income. Later I worked bucking bails of hay for $175 per month. 10 hr. days, 7 days a week and included board and room. As a senior in high school I worked as a flunkie in a Chevrolet garage. for $1.50 per hour.

Too far from town to do the work most others did.

Congrats Ridley. Sue and I celebrate out 50th next Jan. 11th.
It's amazing to think we've been married that long. Sometimes it doesn't seem anywhere near that long.
I remember when my Grandmother and Grandaddy celebrated their 50th. I thought at the time that seemed like they had been married FOREVER. LOL !
You're right, just keeps getting better and better.
Congrats Ridley. Sue and I celebrate out 50th next... (show quote)

Your anniversary Saw, is 5 years and 1 day after ours.

Did you make it a special day for her Ridley? Congratulations, what a journey.

Liked his Rest of The Story. He definitely drew in the listeners. 🌴😎🌴

I understand "The Rest of The Story" was his son's production. His son didn't have the voice and more importantly the timing nor the length for the pauses.

I watched a film from Dr. Canfield explaining metering with Paul Harvey's voice. Dr. Canfield could put a person to sleep with his monotone, but he was a very smart professor.

I carry a pocket knife in one pocket and a small sharpening stone in the other. Can't stand a dull knife.

Oh man ! My computer just ate/lost the LONG response I had almost finished typing to you.
So I'll just give a short version.
I've used braid for almost 10 years.
I use to use the more expensive braid that cost around 40 dollars for 300 yards.
I then bought two 1097 yard spools of Kastking off Ebay for around 20 dollars apiece + shipping.
My latest is buying Dyneema Situation Extreme Braid from TEMU. It's 4 to 5 dollars for a 500 meter spool. AND everything is free shipping.
That's the line I was using when I hooked that HUGH Sturgeon on Friday, fought it for 20 min.
Look up my post, Napa 4 12 24, you'll like the story.
The knot I had tied the lure clip on was probly at least 3 weeks or more old. (I know, I should retie much more often)
ANYWAY. I catch just as many fish with the cheap stuff as the expensive stuff, and the quality of the line doesn't seem to be affected. BUT, that's just my opinion.

Saw, I'm in agreement with you on the cheap stuff. I get 8 or more strands and it seems smoother and less likely to knot in the wind. I think line is improving all the time.

Not about a fish but a fishing story. My brother had a 2 man rubber raft and a Neptune Mity Mite outboard mounted on a board and strapped to the bottom on the inside. This outboard only weighs 17 lbs and has 1.7 hp. We were wide open on Dog Lake when the straps broke. The motor started back and down when my brother grabbed it in a big bear hug. He yelled to me to shut it off several times. It was difficult getting around him to shut it off.
Now this motor has an exposed flywheel on top with a notch to hook a rope to for starting.
It was a good thing he didn't have a beard those days.

The white meat is good but you need to remove the fat and dark meat.

While visiting Australia's outback we toured a cattle ranch. They shoot any camel they find. There are over a million ferile camels in the outback. A camel will consume a large volume of water when it reaches a water hole. The ranch is in drought and cannot afford that much water on top of their cattle's needs. I suppose the aboriginals don't have a love for the camels either.

Mine was a paddlefish that was 6' long and weighed around 84# above Fort Peck reservoir in the Missouri. Threw all the black roe back in for the fish to eat. Didn't know that people ate that stuff. The color just looked wrong.
