Thank you Ricoe!! That’s great news. And thank you for relaying that #3 Sabiki info. I will definitely be using that setup for the baitfish. I love fishing with baitfish at a pier. Lots of fun! And good luck to you on Saturday. “Tight Lines” always.
My brother in law and I got here around 730 this morning. Lots of bait fish , we started up with squid strips and the fun was on . Small spotted bay bass and some rays but it sure was fun. A dfg employee told us about it last week while we were at Balboa pier. It died out around 11am but it sure was a great little workout 😁✌️
Question: Is fishing allowed on Rhine Wharf Pier?! I was told by an employee with Harbor Patrol that fishing was not allowed on that particular pier. It looks like a great spot that I would love to fish. Please advise if fishing is actually permitted on Rhine Wharf Pier or not. Thanks!
Here's the best sunset photo I've taken. In the foreground is a restaurant on Key Largo where the tables are all out on a dock. By the way, their conch chowder is a real treat!
Catfish bite has been a little slow but catching enough for dinner each time out. Carolina rig with chicken breast
Carolina rig is good, but lately I’ve been using the Kentucky Rig with shrimp catching these stubborn Southern California catfish. Sometimes a bait suspended above the weight is better than a bait laying on the bottom with a Carolina rig.
Fishing Fool, you’re right! That technique you described I’ve heard many anglers have used on chicken liver for catfish bait. It’s very effective for making sure bait doesn’t slip off the hook. Thank you for the feedback.
Thanks bapabear for your response. And yes, moving/changing spots is always an option. Yet at that particular spot I’ve had tremendous success in the past…go figure. If I can find some herring, I may try that as bait. Thanks again!
