My deepest sympathy, we have a dog 12 years old and it's going to kill us when that day comes. I've done it so many times, and yet we all do it over and over. Take care, memories are always good .

Alot of boaters down here have there favorite spots, they don't want you to know. If you look to charter a boat here in Crystal River, they tell you first thing,no phones and gps apps, they don't want to give out there spots, that's why I said to follow one or two out, you don't have any thing to lose. I wouldn't want to give up my spot either.

Hey guys/gals I'm Jarrett and have lived in Clearwater for a year. Recently got a new boat and was wondering whats the best grouper strategy for around here ie slow trolling etc. Should I just try some public numbers first? Here is a pic of the boat for attention.

I would follow one or two boats out to the deeper water, don't fish right on top of them, and bottom fish with whole live pin fish or mullet and see how ya do.

You can never go wrong with live shrimp on the hook. Pinfish is another good one.

Have you tried any of the local fishing piers, I go out of the pier in Crystal River. I've only caught sting rays, but there fun. But I've seen cobia caught out of there.

I filet my snappers, it's so easy to get the skin off.

That's just the right size, there excellent filleted, seasoned and put on the grill. I don't like the jumbos,to much dark meat, but they are fun to catch. I use a ava 17 single hook with a tube.

If you use a throw net off the pier and happen to catch some small mullet, you can catch cobia, with the pin fish,I only caught stingrays, 30lb ers. What a fight. You can cut the wings off, skin em out, they call them redneck scallops, I haven't eaten them yet.

Hi all, I am new to fishing in the Crystal River area. I have fished the Fl Keys for years, but know nothing about fishing here in CR. I plan to use my kayak on Crystal River but have no idea what kind of fish are there and what gear to use. Any help would be appreciated.

I go out of the pier in Crystal River, I take a fresh water pole with small hooks and use pieces of shrimp ๐Ÿฆ to catch pin fish, the I use my salt water pole with a 4 oz weight and a 5/0 circle hook with your pinfish and cast out. Good luck

Go to Granny's Restaurant and make a right, follow to the end, park just before the end on the left, walk out on the end of the pier, take a light fresh water and heavy salt water setup. Use the fresh water setup to catch pin fish with small hooks and shrimp. Take the pinfish, put on your heavy setup with 4oz weight and a 5/0 circle hook, hook your pinfish thru the back and cast out, good luck
