I’ve been in LongNeck for a couple years. Before that I was at the Jersey shore. I’ve crabbed since I was a girl but it was like:
Get crabs… Go home… Eat crabs.
Now I live on a canal by the Rehoboth bay and would like to stockpile a few days of crabbing at a time. So I’d like to make a live well (or some thing) until I get a decent batch and my boys come down for a visit.
Can anyone help me with 💡
-How to make a live well for Crabs
-How long can I keep crabs in a life well
-How do I care for crabs in a live well
Thanks in advance to anyone who can give me any helpful information.

Hi I grew up on a canal on Long Island, one neighbor obtained a big square crab trap and sealed off the in holes of it with similar coated wire. He suspended it off of his boat just a couple feet down below the surface. He kept them well fed with fish heads etc. This solved the temperature and filtration problems. It also attracted more crabs to his trap a few feet away off the dock. It was a cheap but very effective way of keeping them a few weeks. Just a blast from my past. Good luck and thank you for reminding me of my time living on the water. I live near it now.
