Hello my name is Tom, I used to surf fish via 4 x 4 Toyota pickup, I drive a Chevy Trailblazer now and finally was able to get my Surf Fishing Vehicle Tag here in DE. I have 3 Surf rods and some lures but nothing for a baited rig. What are the best to use in this area? I have been out of the sport for 15 years now so I am sure there are some different rigs and hooks that are used now. I used to make my own fish finder rigs using wine corks with a hole drilled in the middle etc.

Go to Old Inlet Bait and Tackle near Indian River on the bay side of the highway. You can’t miss it. They will advise you and you get a few rigs from them to start.

Fish finder/Carolina rig is the best place to start. I always use a snap swivel for the slide. Old Inlet is a nice shop to deal with. If you happen to see a black Tahoe with a front rack and a lot of Jersey sticker s on the window, stop by and say hello.

Send me an email. I fish DE surf just about every Wednesday. I fish the jetty too especially at night in the Summer for striped bass hitting topwater lures.

I also fish Assateague Island National Park OSV too... spinning and conventional...
