Trying to get rid of a project boat I picked up. I much prefer canoe fishing, paddling for two.

FeatherCraft 14' Aluminum boat Needs:

a new rubber grommet plug
a grommet for the front
two parts of the rear wood for motor mount

Trailer needs power wash, sand and paint. Trailer and boat pull well.

No interest to refurbish myself.

What's this project boat and trailer worth to somebody? I put it up on "the craig" in birmingham for 450, added best offer.

Trying to give a man and his kid a pretty good deal. Does it sound fair to anyone else?

Hey 2Much,

Check out aerial/satellite Google view of "G's Landing", Tutwiler Road (aka CR53): SE of Oakman on the Lost Creek, just North of the intersection with the Mulberry Fork. Seems all of this is part of the (Black) Warrior River system, as it flows southward, then onward into the TenTom.

Again, ain't been on the water there, before, but always looked enticing when driving over the bridge.

Plenty of boat docks and boat houses to fish, plenty of flower and fauna afloat, lots of bends in the river, a Fishin'-4k, what looks like fishing flats. Not very wide.

I can't tell you how to get there from The Bear, but when you get close, drive SLOW! The BLUs in that area are known to finance their salaries from waywards that can't seem to see those 25-35mph signs hid behind trees or layin' on the side of the roads.

Check it out! See wadayaThink?

I'm gonna call G's, justa find out more about bassin', bitin', and bates; times, temps, and weather patterns to fish.

Does anyone else know about this hideaway?

Kayak Don,

Welp, My place is real close to the center of the state of Alabama. The BassMasters Classic has been held on several of these River Impoundments nearby, quite a number of times.

I'm a canoe fisherman. I don't own one of those Evinrude Hair boats, anymore.

Instead, from Feb stripers breaking arms from the lower side of the dams to 3 lb crappie found in the underwater pine thickets and BucketMouth Largemouth & Spot hook'n themselves, welp, "Who needs a motor if you don't mind being pulled around these ponds by 1FP (fish power) ?"

The cookin' around here is pretty good. I've fished way more than 100 locations. Kind of like Bow-Hunting for deer ... you gotta pick ur spots. Besides, if it ain't the right spot, we just load up, drive 15-30 min to another spot, sometimes another creek, another lake.

Guntersville's about 2 hr from the house, unless you'd rather be on the Scottsboro side.
Lay Lake is 20 minutes away, one way, Logan Martin about 75 min the same way; while Lake Mitchell about 15 min the other way, 30 min away to the Coosa Co side, only 1 hour if you want to go all the way to Hwy280 and Lake Martin to float all the way back to the Coosa.

I can take U to where the Tallapoosa and the Coosa meet, Ft. Toulouse, else float the Cahaba, also nearby, over flat rock bridges, snakin' between copper-rattl-moccasins, lots of may-fly bushes, plenty of rip rap, many a dams to skirt, sometimes. We catch alot of Red-eye bass in these rivers, as well as spots.

Else, the Black Warrior, or the Alabama, you'll find Lakes like Aliceville and Gainesville, about 1 1/2 - 2 hrs the other way. We got deep lakes like Smith Lake, we got Lake Demopolis and thence all the way south toward the Mobile and the Tensaw.

I can even take u to some places, u gotta be careful you don't float over one of those 50 - 100' Falls, cause we got quite a few of them up by Henry Neely. If you want to try a 10' drop, welp, that one's over at the YellowLeaf GristMill, about 15 min away. And, that one requires a set of brass! And, if you don't mind hanging out around alligators, welp, there are quite a few coves on Eufala.

I'd be here till Friday scribbling all the places Monster Bass hide in Alabama. Beats the heck outta balloon fishing Okachobee or monster worm fishin' Lake Fork.

We catch 'em on everything in the tackle box. And, when we feel like paddling, again, well, we just pull that fish into the canoe.

Call this place "The Alabama Creek Hostel," complete with Canoe Fishing Guide!

Want one of those trips?

A buddy lives up there in Oakman, really close to an old bridge covering a gorgeous bend in one of the Warrior River feeder creeks, covered in Lily Pads. Might call it "The Lost Creek." Haven't fished there, yet. Is close to you. Something like 140 - 150 miles from your hut to mine.

There's also a few more spots on Lake Gainesville, just north of the Dam I'd like to fish.

Plenty of water to fish from there to here!

Agreed, let's listen to Mother Nature. Sometime before end of Feb, weather permitting sounds great!

We're gonna have to the State of AL and GOogle Maps. Seems, the town and the reservoir are a few more miles apart then I'd have expected. And, there's another area referred to as Bear Creek, along Bear Creek Rd, between Duncanville and Tusk. Likewise, HorseShoe Bend is down here on the Tallapoosa River. Maps located another Horseshoe Bend, nearby your Bear Creek Res. AL is so good at confusing some a them Yanks!

About 12-15 years ago, I bank fished Allatoona about three times. Entered State Park entrance, Hwy20, somewhere between Cartersville and Kenesaw. Saw more deer than I caught fish. Thought there'd be plenty of weight caught around those boats in the landing docks. Threw everything, dropped everything, slow-fished, pig n jigged ... tried about everything in my tackle box. Time was about mid Nov into Dec, about hunting season.

Then, a buddy took me and his Black Lab out in the boat at night. Seemed it was near late February, maybe early March. Started about 11pm, Had quite the adventure, Out of the water well before sunrise, simply because we were working most daylight hours within a 5-8 county area, stretching all the way from Emerson past Cartersville into Adairsville. Then Eastward past Winder into Athens, as far north as Gainesville on the other lake, Lanier. Lanier fishing was much better, especially down on the south end. That's where we set up an office to meet to discuss business. We commandeered one of those picnic tables on the South side.

Allatoona

He called the place the Dead Sea during the day. We caught a few nicer bass in the wee hours of the morning. Seems we fished the Acworth area.

To make the long story short, find a late-night launch near the southernmost end of that Dead Sea by Acworth. Bounce and Roll heavy spinnerbaits along some mid-depth gnarly bottom, one alongside where the channel nears some overhung banks from midnight to 6am. Surprised me, too! That's my story, and I'm stickin' 2-it.

Hello 2Much,

Not certain where U2 hide out. Mine is a 17' Gnu. One ain't enuff for a gnu, n ain't got no Yak.

Where NE AL yawl disembark? There's great fishing holes all around you, and there's plenty more south of you.

There's plenty CLubs. U by chance yak'd the Talladega Creek Grist Mill, yet? Lazy Float and Clubbers Hole.

If you get a hankerin' to go fish, welp, I'm interested. I got 2 paddles, n we kn load any boat full a vittles. Gnu'n means Fish'n N Picknkn" 2me. N, I travel. But, ain't got no Yak!

In the last few days, I got another 17' gnu, and I found an old aluminum 1959 FeatherCraft Cisco v-hull settin' aboard an ole rusty trailer. Just gettin' it to the yard's its own story. Stuck the 1 7/8" short-shaft ball-hitch into the left of three hitch'em holes in the rear bumper, too short for a nut. Made it back to the TeePee without spilling anything on the road. Yeah, everything works, and it rolled real good. Might name this thing Ugly Ducklin, until I unruffle her feathers. Still ain't figured out what color paint matches an Aluminum boat, a blue gnu and a green gnu. This morning, was quoted 2 Benjamin Franklins just to sand-blast, another 1 and a half Benjis to prime N paint. That's more than half what I gave for the whole Tote'n Kabootul. Guess, will find some them extras layin' around the shed to help make the choices easy. Hope there's enuff sand-paper and oil-based enamel.

If I kn figure out how to get pictures off the picture fon and into this discussion group, welp, yawl kn picture that, then.

Thank you, Chief Please, tell me something about your NH coast fishing. I spent one week around Bangor, ME with some family members. We canoed a nearby Loon Lake, we visited Bar Harbor, talked to a few lobstermen, ate some great food. Watched a pair of moose observe me n the lady though the bedroom full-walled window-glass.

Family taught me how to live with the Fall black flies. That was a great visit. We didn't do any fishing on the trip.

Please, clue me in about your ocean, lake, and stream fishing nearby NH vacinity.

I will remain in touch, Chief. Look forward to a day to meetup and tour NH.

Cheers!

Admiral,

However you credit the Bass Recipe is OK with me.

If I had to specifically credit the Chef La'Fit, welp, give it to "VJ, the Acadian done married a Creek."

Part Seneca, huh. I was trained by some of them Iroquois, too. I've fished Onondaga Lake, Lake Seneca (NY) [and Lake Seneca (SC)], Oneida Lake, Lake Ontario, Lake Placid, the Canal, the St. Lawrence (that's where those BullHeads hooked themselves, cause I was prolly only 8 yrs old at the time,) and all those other Tribal Lakes in Central NY. Thinkin', I've swam all of 'em, too, except I think we only stepped into a near dry Erie Canal. There was this Saskatchawan. She and my Mom drove 8 youngins, 4 and 4 each, all over the State of NY for about 7 years. Now, those 2 moms were the Troopers. Great memories!

Not sure many kids get to do that kind of thing, as much, anymore.

Closing in on 60 now. Can't seem to shake the kid out of me. Guess, officially, they write about Explorers. They were all just kids didn't want to grow up, inately knowing, the best part of life is explorin'.

** Willing outdoor enthusiast to Bass Fish the downtown Wetumpka, AL area of the Coosa River, Lake Jordan South. Could possibly fish all the way south to where the Coosa and Tallapoosa meet at Ft. Toulouse. Probably prefer to fish the grass and islands in the shallows N of the Bridge.

Fri Jan 20 expected weather: Hi's 60, Lo's 45-50. Winds 3-6mph. Overcast day between We-Th and Sa-Su rains.

Launch from Downtown Wetumpka, AL, Crommelin Landing (see Google Maps). Launch time anytime after Sunrise.

17' Coleman canoe, 2 paddles, bring your own life-jacket. Lots of room in the boat for picnic supplies.
I bring two small tackle boxes and 3 rods. I got extra rods and extra artificial baits.

Plenty of nearby amenities, restaurants, shops, bathrooms.

Heck, if you're traveling from out-of-town or out-of-state, welp, I'm thinkin' about making this Home of mine in Clanton a Hostel for Bass Fisherman across the country that like canoe fishing as much as big boat fishing.

Place to stay, Extra vehicles, quality amenities, and some of the best BASS FISHING in the world, all within 15 min to 2 - 3 hours drive.

Clanton, AL, center of the State of AL, I-65 and Hwy22.

All within 2 hrs: Henry Neely, Logan Martin, Lay Lake, Lake Jordan, Cahaba River, Tallapoosa River, Lake Guntersville, Lake Martin, West Point Lake, Lake Wedowee, Warrior River ... that's just some of 'em.

Door open! Leave a note.
