I know it is cold but, where is the fish bite on Allatoona. Crappie, Bass and Stripers
About 12-15 years ago, I bank fished Allatoona about three times. Entered State Park entrance, Hwy20, somewhere between Cartersville and Kenesaw. Saw more deer than I caught fish. Thought there'd be plenty of weight caught around those boats in the landing docks. Threw everything, dropped everything, slow-fished, pig n jigged ... tried about everything in my tackle box. Time was about mid Nov into Dec, about hunting season.
Then, a buddy took me and his Black Lab out in the boat at night. Seemed it was near late February, maybe early March. Started about 11pm, Had quite the adventure, Out of the water well before sunrise, simply because we were working most daylight hours within a 5-8 county area, stretching all the way from Emerson past Cartersville into Adairsville. Then Eastward past Winder into Athens, as far north as Gainesville on the other lake, Lanier. Lanier fishing was much better, especially down on the south end. That's where we set up an office to meet to discuss business. We commandeered one of those picnic tables on the South side.
Allatoona
He called the place the Dead Sea during the day. We caught a few nicer bass in the wee hours of the morning. Seems we fished the Acworth area.
To make the long story short, find a late-night launch near the southernmost end of that Dead Sea by Acworth. Bounce and Roll heavy spinnerbaits along some mid-depth gnarly bottom, one alongside where the channel nears some overhung banks from midnight to 6am. Surprised me, too! That's my story, and I'm stickin' 2-it.
