We went last year about this time, and we went with Stripper Express’ Captain Tim. As you said, Captain Tim knew where the stripers were yesterday! It was such a beautiful experience. He put us on a point on the morning of the second day at dawn, and we had a mighty experience with the voracious fight of those big stripers. There is a time to blaze your own trail, and a time to ride someone else’s coattails, and wisdom is to know when.
Would recommend to you first, Lake Livingston State Park where they have some pretty broad fishing banks, and points. Second, you might go further north to the public boat ramp at the end of Hwy 2457. Further north still is the bridge over the lake, the 190 bridge, but I don’t know if you can walk down to the pilings and fish for crappie, but a lot of boats do frequent that spot.
