Hi Fellow Fishers,
I'm getting back into fishing...I moved to Hartsville, SC from Calif in August. I bought a small boat in Oct. and I'm learning to launch a boat and just as important. I'm learning how to keep it upright. I've got a little gear to catfish and hope to catch a few soon.
Wishing you well and hoping to see you smiling out on the water,
Greg

Hey Gordon,
Have you fished Lake Marion? It's just a bit further than Lake Wateree from me and fish are even safer to eat. It looks like John C. Land III Sport Fishing Facility, 4404 Greenall Rd, Summerton, SC 29148 at Lake Marion would be awesome for me. I've a, new to me, little 14' McKee fishing boat. I enjoyed catfishing when younger and I'm looking to catch yearling catfish or other tasty species to eat.
Thanks so much,
Greg ;o)

My apologies as this is long and wordy...I'm describing my take on boat ramp useability at Wateree. 11/2022
Thanks to all of you for your replies.
I drove the 65 minutes to Lake Wateree in my car and checked out a few of the boat ramps.
1. On the Hwy 97 side of the lake White Oak Public ramp at Clear Water Cove Marina looks really new and large but they had removed the docks...and the shore is rocky...I'd be alone so that wouldn't work for me. (They had a sign saying they were going to build new ramps.
2. Lake Wateree RV Park and Marina had a very steep and narrow boat launch. They had a dock with boat slips but required renting an RV site if you wanted to park your trailer.
3. The last ramp I checked on the East side of the lake was at the top of the lake at Cedar Creek Boat Ramp the ramp was Public and OK but there wasn't a dock. Because the lake level was so low for damn repair I couldn't judge if the area to the south of the ramp would be usable to tie up for one person launching.
4. Then we drove to the West side of the lake and found the Taylor Creek Boat Ramp It seemed pretty usable with a dock.
5. Lake Wateree State Park Boat Ramp is a really nice large facility the dock is a ways from the ramp.
6. Next ramp south was just past the Dutchman Creek Fire Station at the gas station. It looked quite useable I'm not sure if there was a fee to launch...lots of parking there.
7. Molly Creek Landing was a fine public boat launch with a dock and lots of parking here is a facebook pic if it works.

8. The most southwest ramp was the Public Boat Ramp at Wateree Damn with a dock its the closest ramp to Camden and is quite useable but rather close to the end of the lake near the damn.
I'm sure I missed some boat ramps..but hopefully someone finds this helpful.

I'm new to SC. I'd like to know where you recommend launching my small boat in Lake Wateree. I'll be coming from the East or Darlington area. I'll be fishing for catfish. All tips are appreciated. Thanks, Greg
