WOW! What a dilemma, catch and release / pain inflicted? Have you ever learned a "life lesson"? Well perhaps the fish did and he's smarter now and more selective about what it consumes, and a little stronger for the fight he experienced. Who cares! Take a child fishing, teach them, and watch them. From the twitch of the rod through the landing of the fish. Great experiences to live for! Cover the morals of the experience if you feel it appropriate, but don't let the moment get away, life experiences are what we were put here for. Now let's go fishing!

Make sure you spool it on in the correct direction of the new spool. I purchased a Berkeley line holder for both bait casters and spinning reel to get the right tension and right direction of the line to prevent and line twist

I usually just use a pencil to hold the new spool between my knees, applying a little pressure to keep tension on the line. After a few turns I check the coils and if they appear to be getting tighter, flip the spool over. Continue with the process and it should do the job. Be aware of the pressure it can create heat to your knee. Don't be in a hurry.
