thumb control is the key unless you want to keep the break and tension tight. with the break tight, distance is minimal. I practiced with a weight until i could back off the break to get more distance.
birds nest are going to happen. they happen to the pros. most of the time, they are edited out but you can see them sometimes.
practice, practice, practice...
