Hello, and welcome to the group.
The fly you want is the Clouser shrimp imitation. It is deadly on speckled trout. You might try a shiny streamer on a light, flexible wire leader around the gas rigs north of Fort Morgan for Spanish Mackerel.
Specks can be caught around piers and docks.

I recommend youtube videos by bamabeachbum to find out more about what can be caught, and where.
I'm thinking a streamer fished around navigation buoys might give you a memorable fight with Triple Tails. Just remember to get out there very early as every other fisherman hits those buoys on their way to deeper water.

Yeah, they were. Lot of fun to catch on ultralight. However, next time, I think I'll throw the big ones back. That big, and they lose the sweet flavor bluegills are so famous for.

I would pick up some Fish Bites (preferably in Sand Flea flavor, and some fresh dead shrimp. Jigs can work well, too. You might like the You Tube videos by Bama Saltwater, and Bama Beach Bum.

The biggest catfish was 21", and the largest bream was 11 1/2".

My attempts to post pictures here keep failing. Wonder if the files are too big? Okay, that one worked!

Finally got to get out fishing for the first time after my heart surgery. Caught 1 bass, on a chatterbait. The wife and I kept 5 of the catfish, and 15 bream. It was a lot of fun, and by the time we finished cleaning the fish, I was nearly too tired to eat them!
It was a Good Day.

Hi Nawlin,

Looks like your boat will do all you need for most fishing around here. I fished some at Big Creek lake when I was in my teens. About all I caught were a few small bream, and a couple of pickerel. Glad to see there are some members here who have the Lake figured out. The bass in the Delta are locally known as "footballs". This is due to their size and shape. They love live shrimp.
Jason Smith, one of our local weathermen, made several videos about fishing the Delta. You might want to look those up.
BTW, glad to hear about your diagnosis. I know that's a real load off your mind.

Welcome to the Forum, Dan Fish!
I'm 'way down on the coast, but the map says you aren't that far from r om the Muscle Shoals area. There are several members here who fish that area with good results. Hopefully they can help you catch, not just fish.
Lake Tuscaloosa LOOKS like it would offer good fishing, but I've never heard anything about it. Maybe too much runoff/pollution?

Probably best to catch your own.

Bait and areas on dauphin island for good surf fishing this time of year

Hello, Tom Havard. Welcome to the Forum.
I like Jemison's Bait and Tackle. They are just before Cedar Point, and the D.I. bridge.
Even if you are on the Islad, it isn't far.

YouTube videos by Alabama Saltwater and Alabama Beach Bum are pretty good. They even teach about the second most important fishing topic : Cooking the fish!
Although if you are cooking octopus, you want my stepson recipe. Will quickly become one of your favorites.

The State public fishing lakes are usually pretty good. Go to OutdoorAlabama/pfl.com
Several across the state are closed for cleaning/restocking. The State has trouble keeping reliable managers at some lakes.
