Not much of a walleye fisherman, but they claim that Prewitt Resovoir is one of the best Walleye fisheries in the state of Colorado. Only Walleye I’ve ever caught there was at the outlet. I see a lot of. guys out on the water trolling out along the dam. I do remember back in the 1960’s that Prewitt was a very good fishery for cat as well. Used to bring home wash tubs full of cat.
Red algea back in2002 and 2003 caused Game and Fish to hold a fish kill that ruined the fishing for the most part in my Opinion.
Anyways, Good Luck and tight lines at Prewitt.

Best cold weather Catfishing I've ever experienced was in Poinsett County just north of Marked Tree, Arkansas. It was Christmas Day in 1986 where the Little River and Saint Francis meet. Very cold and blustery then. Between two of us, we caught and dressed out nearly 60 pounds of Blue and Channel. I shit you not, pole fishing only. We fed quite a few folks that evening for Christmas Supper.. Fried cat, french fries, hushpuppies and coleslaw. Remember it well, good times

I'd go with ya? Only thing is I'm out in Colorado. Back in the late 70's nearly 80's when I was stations at MCAS El Toro I spent many hours at what I believe was Lake Laguna Niguel. Caught a lot of nice cats there. Miss it dearly

When I lived in Marked Tree, AR we would go to the bait shop and buy gold fish. We would hit the St. Francis River and fish the eddies and deep river bends that we could get to by walking, sometimes quite a ways. Rig up and throw out in the current and wait. Caught some real good flatheads, most averaged 20 to 30 lbs usually from early spring to late fall.

Caught some nice ones where it meets the muddy Mississippi. Great flathead fishing even into the late fall.

Yes. When I originally went down to the Mid-South I lived in Marked Tree, Arkansas. That was in 85. I moved back to Colorado in 02 and have missed the game and fishing ever since. I'm very familiar with N.E. Arkansas

Being a proud Colorado native and having lived in northeastern Arkansas for several years after the Marine Corps I am really disappointed by the Catfishing in northeastern Colorado. The Mighty Mississippi River, Tunica Cutoff ruined me by the sheer numbers of catfish I caught in those areas. I returned to Colorado and have yet to find a good cat hole. Any advise as to where the good holes are in northeastern southeastern Colorado for the Labor day weekend.
