So it’s my 2nd year fishing the tributaries off the Ablemare in NE NC.
Haven’t done real good but a few bass and.giant catfish. My good friend was visiting for the 1st time and wanted to go fishing. We get the boat out of mothball ride up the road and put in. It was a little windy so I decided to go across the creek and around this point. We were using plastic worm rigged Texas style. My friend 1st cast must have hit and woke this big female right on the head, the fight was on. We landed a 7 lb 3 ounce largemouth. What a thrill find attached photos
Hey Fred, I’ve only encountered them in Florida also. We are mostly freshwater here, so I was delightfully surprised

When you see dolphins, you seldom catch any fish. If I see a dolphin, I'm out of there.
Figured they had already chased the fish away, so I didn’t even went a line. Just enjoyed the fun
Was fishing for largemouth in the Yeopin Creek area. No luck, figure I’d venture out into the Ablemare in search for white perch. No luck. Experienced a first ever for me, was visited by a large pod of Dolphins. Was only in a 14’ foot boat. Was absolutely thrilled to have played with them for about 45 minutes.

Dennie, I’ve being using chicken livers available at most food stores (really cheap) they are a little tough to keep on the hook , so I use these small water soluble bags(Amazon) with a 3.0 circle hook. Give it a try and tight lines.
Caught this 18.4 lb channel cat on chicken livers yesterday afternoon off pier…Going to try my luck at Lake Phelps today.

Nice catching Appraiser. How do you make out around the Cyprus Trees? I've seen guys flipping around the trees on TV, and doing pretty well. Is that a summertime bite, or year round? I'm planning to move to Lake Marion SC, and see a lot of Cyprus Trees there. Thanks for the pictures.
This is all new to me, just moved from Maryland in August, with that said I’ve only been hung up in the branches above water..Good luck on your move.
1st bass of season, about 3lbs, caught on chatter bait. Missed one on top water using black frog. Pics of lake and catch.
Going to try Yeopin tomorrow.
