Hi Tuna, I live in Ocean View DE. There's good fishing on the beaches between Dewey Beach and the Indian River inlet. Also good fishing in the inlet itself as well as the Indian River Bay. The beaches are Drive on with a surf fishing tag for your vehicle and walk on as well, and the inlet is all walk on.
When the surf is slow there's also a lot of good fresh water fishing with plenty of ponds and small lakes.
Have fun
Check the weekly fishing report for this area at oldinlet.com, posted every Wednesday. It's from the Old Inlet Bait Shop on the Indian River Inlet and bay. They give a good detailed report on what's biting and what bait they're hitting.
Thx charlykilo.
And D Tong I'm well aware this is a fishing stage. I'm merely asking if anyone is aware if there's a similar platform as this dedicated to hunting.
Does a hunting forum similar to the Fishing Stage forum exist, and can anyone provide its URL?
I'm in Ocean View and have seen reports of kingfish. Trout, croakers and spot in the surf. Going to find out for myself tomorrow
Nice fish Harryb, when were you there? I was on the beach at Conquest Sunday afternoon and caught nothing but rays. Knew I should have hit the inlet instead.
I just spooled two Penn Battle III reels with 30lb braid and am wondering about the need for a shock lead. I have some 50lb mono I can use but I'll be surf fishing with little to no abrasion on rocks or other obstacles. I've read differing opinions on the need for a shock lead and am curious what some of you might offer from hands on experience.
Hey Jetman, I'm in Ocean View. Lots of good fishing in small ponds all over Sussex County as well as along the coast and the Indian River Bay inlet.
Greg, my advice is make some good memories. I grew up in a Bristol, my grandparents lived in Johnson City. Some of my earliest memories are of my grandpa taking me fishing on the Watauga. Wishing now I could relive some of those days.
Hope you enjoy the new home and catch lots of fish.
To answer your question more directly I have a drive on tag and fish the beach. I've also fished the inlet some. Caught flounder, speckled sea trout, croaker and horseshoe crabs in the inlet. Surf I've caught stripers in April and later on pompano, dolphin, a lot of spiny dogfish, flounder and one red drum.
I haven't been out yet this year. Water temp is still around 43 degrees, nothing much bites until it warms up to around 50 degrees and fish begin to move in closer.
Welcome dfolk76, I'm FT in Ocean View. Nothing biting in the inlet yet and only spiny dogfish on the beach. Need water to get a few degrees warmer, give it another week or so and I'll see you on the beach
