Crappie are my choice of fish to chase along with bluegill as well. Try to find an area with some kind of cover. Brush pile, blow downs, weed beds etc.
Then you will need to find the magic depth. Crappie almost always feed up. So start shallow and go down.
I mostly fish with plastic jigs on a 1/32 jig head in a double jig rig. You cam cast or jig with that setup Minnows and a slip bobber work great also.
Go to YouTube and watch Richard Gene the fishing machine and Crushing Crappie ( he is in South West Ohio)
I hope some of this helps, Crappie fishing becomes an obsession

I have 2. A 8ft and a 10 ft. I love them. I am actually going to buy 2 more, a 7 and a 6 6.

Tough rods, I caught a 5.8 lbs bass on my 8ft and it did great. Great feel as well.

Hey folks, a small group of us are thinking of doing a fall charter on lake erie. None of us have ever done this before and are looking for recommendations on who we should go with. And time frame.

I know there are several people who fish erie on here so I'm looking for your help.

Any and all comments are welcome. We would like to target walleye and perch. Maybe even smallmouth.

Thanks Gary

Does anyone know of a good little pushbutton reel for kids. These little kid reels aren't much these days Kids like them because of the name or picture they put on these little kid rod an reel combos these days

I like the zebco mini 33 for the kids. It seems to cast a lot easier than some of the other bigger reels.

Keep those babies outdoors and enjoy every minute with them

Whitey, if you get some time head to Burr Oak the crappie bit has been on fire.

Sunday I was able to catch two over 13 inches and 5 or 6 over 10 inches.

Good luck.

I caught mine last year, 5lb 4oz, while looking for Smallies. I caught a couple 1.5-2 pounders, and when I set the hook in her, I thought it was a snag. When I got her in the boat,my hands were shaking.

I know that's the truth Fred, I had to sit down after I let her go. Shaking like a leaf.

You more than made up for it Gary. That's a beautiful Bass, and a nice mess of slabs! Congrats again on the PB, and thanks for the pictures.

My pleasure Fred, I'm usually not one to take many pictures, but I had to with that fish. She blew my mind. Lol

Hello all,
God was sure good to me this Easter weekend.
On the second cast of the day I caught a new pb bass. 5.88 lbs. Thought I was crappie fishing but I was very grateful to have the opportunity to catch that fish.
Ooh yeah the crappie were bitting as well.

Happy Easter everyone and tight lines.

Thanks Gary. I have fished before I just don't know how to tie stuff together or when to use weights or not you know that kind of thing. I always went with someone else who did that for me but never showed me how. Thanks for great advice and help I do appreciate it.

I have all the faith in the world that you can do it all. YouTube is great for teaching all that you mentioned.

Good luck and tight lines
