Good to hear from you guys. I'm in Bennington and love to fish. Forget Standing Bear this year...it is totally drained for repairs and updates(?) Took grandson to Two Rivers last weekend with great expectations. Others were catching (stocked) trout on corn, but they eluded us :-( Flanigan Lake is newer, located in west Omaha near eastern edge of Elkhorn. We had good luck catching bluegill and the odd bass last summer...haven't tried it this year.

Wow JB134, you really got my attention! Beautiful Bass! I am headed to Kalispell Sunday for some brotherly home renovation help AND some fishing. Neither of us have fished Montana, so this looks like a great place to start!!

Thanks everyone for your kind remarks and encouragement. Can't believe how much more fun fishing is when you have a "buddy" who loves fishing too! Flyguy: the secret may very well be in the hat!! It is a "Fish Camp" hat we made for him and his siblings at our annual "Fish Camp". He seems to be the only guy who still wears it (or even knows where to find it!)

Love to see my grandson so excited about fishing...but I sure wish he would teach me how he does it!

Thanks Flyguy. One question that comes to mind is ... in the heat of the summer, is it foolish to fish with surface flies? I've been using a black popper fly and caught a couple bass yesterday, but unclear if that was just dumb luck. :-)

Just found this forum and hoping to hear from like-minded anglers. Love to fish, but did not make time for it while working. Now retired and love fishing with my grandkids (and without them!). Finally picked up my fly-rod and experimented in local lakes...what fun! Looking for lakes, ponds, streams in Omaha area to fish for any kind of fish...with focus on fly-fishing.

I too live in Eastern Nebraska, Omaha area. Enjoy fishing Lake Flanigan, newer lake. Catch and release only right now, but fun fishing with grandkids (mostly bluegill).
