Fish a new lake today, one of multiple lakes in the Thompson chain of lakes. Beautiful little lake, crystal clear and only one fishing except for someone trolling out deep for Kokanee & trout. Managed about 10 fish, all really healthy looking largemouth (must be that protein diet of trout & salmon 😁). Nothing huge, but all 3-4 lb fish. Half on Chatterbait, rest on drop shot. Lost a couple of chatterbaits to big pikes 😡. Nice lake and I’ll be back soon to explore more of it. All fish released to fight another day. Enjoy pics

Sounds and looks like a fine day, JB! Well, except the lost chatterbaits. I’ve never tried the drop shot rig. Looks like it’s worth branching out to that!

Nice catching, JB! Trying to ID the soft plastic in the first photo--looks like a swim senko but with a zako tail...? Or maybe a full zako but at a weird angle?

As always JB, nice quality bass. The best is yet to come. Falls were always reserved for bow hunting but I’ve not been able to draw my bows for quite a few years due to 4 rotator cuff surgeries(2 on each). Fall has become fishi’n time now.

Your observation skills are spot on. It’s a Yamamoto Zako in the smallmouth color on a chatterbait bait. I actually trim a bit of the skirt to give more of a look at the trailer…

Drop shot is by far the main stay of getting bit for me… not as exciting as getting stopped on a moving bait, but by far the most productive. Use the Berkley Max scent flat worm. I personally like the brown color (goby) if there’s any clouds overhead, and use the pumpkin green if sunny. They just get bit 👍
