Check out the map on this site and the catches. Look at each lake, pond, waterhole etc. I'm surprised by how many places there are.
I've a friend that float tubes there a couple of times a week and catches some very nice bass

As i grew up in the Sierras at lake Tahoe I'm inclined towards trout. But fish for channel cats from time to time. I like surf fishing to but need all new gear for that.
Smokey2 Hi I've fished lake hemet for years. Not caught much from shore. But when I rented a boat I could usually limit out on trout.
I read this page everyday and enjoy everyone's catches. Right now just gathering info. It's to hot for me to venture out but when it finally drops into the seventies I'll be dipping a line. Also don't tube or yak and it's a pretty good drive to the ocean so for now I'm just cruising from my recliner. Plus I got hit by hi winds last week so new roof and trim need to get done. Fish on people fish on.
Years ago minnows on the west shore worked well .
