Largemouth Bass fishing:
Looking for any information re: locations of any SD County ponds, golf courses; etc. that hold largemouth bass. I am 100% catch and release.
I'm a most frustrated transplant from the North East where we had rivers, natural glacial lakes, multiple species, etc. as multiple target zones. I can't find much fresh water shore access at all; though my home (& only) lake is Dixon and enjoy each trip there.
As I am shore-bound, anybody with a lauchable boat need a fishing buddy?
I reside in the unincorporated northern section of Escondido.
My research to date has come up empty.
Check out the map on this site and the catches. Look at each lake, pond, waterhole etc. I'm surprised by how many places there are.
Site yes this app has a detailed map of any area you'd want along with the people who fished there and what they caught.
App? Not seeing anything but your posts/words. My problem?
My bad download fish angler app. It has what I was talking about
You also have Lake Wohlford north east of Escondido. They have bass, trout, crappie, cats just waiting for you. You can walk most of the lake. Tight lines.
Smokey2,
Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it.
I've lived in Escondido (from NYS) since 2000 and fished Wohlford by boat a few times and could not figure out a pattern for my target species (LMB).
Seems to me this is a completely different lake than Dixon.
Dixon clear water and weeds.
Wohlford darker water, more rock formations, seems more of a jig presentation opportunity.
Do you have any recommendation re: lure choices from shore?
Is it still the proverbial drop shot or Texas rigged Senkos.
I'm 70-years old, took a pretty wicked cliff fall 4-months ago at Dixon as the north shoreline I fish is pretty steep and have lost a bit of confidence re: my current ability to negotiate Dixon's shore access.
Wohlford may be a good suggestion as it is flatter, for lack of a better description.
I need to get back out fishing and will take a shot at Wohlford.
Anyone out there that knows of some golf course water hazards as an additional option?
Thanks again.
What site are you talking about, You didn't list or show anything ???
I've downloaded the Fish Angler app as recommended by Wolf trout.
Trying to figure out how to use it.
Not there yet.

You have to fish the golf ⛳️ at night and sneak on them!!
Had a ball doing it in Orange county.!!
Caught some nice bass their are alot of guys that do it.
We would even drive down to Plam Springs and fish the corse at night.
But you have to sneak on !!
Andy,
I understand completely your "sneak" approach. It is also mine and quite candidly for me adds a bit of something to the fun.
Problem I'm having in SD County is finding golf courses that even have water hazards. And let us not forget a key factor is about finding the right place to park your car.
Hoping someone from the area can name for me a golf course or two. I can take it from there; starting with the "scoping" run.
Thanks again.
