One of my favorite places is Red's Lake off of highway 88. There's also Caples and Silver Lakes. Nice cut throat in Red's.
The middle fork and Clark's fork are both fishable. If you go to Kennedy Meadows go to the upper meadow. Have fun.

I've been invited to meet some friends at Spicer. I've not been there before. Any suggestions about fishing the reservoir would be appreciated.
Sorry, primarily trout. However, I think you'll find this to be a great place to visit.
In September and October, the east side of the Sierras should be special. There are many lakes with cabins and boat rentals. One of my favorites is twin lakes out of Bridgeport. Another favorite is Virginia Lakes a little further south.
Continuing south there is the June Lakes loop. These should meet your friends criteria. Lodging near fishing with boats available.
Another advantage would be the fall colors, not like New England but close. You can find many other attractions in the area besides fishing.
I don't believe it's a pike minnow, looks like the minnows that were sold when I was a kid. They were replaced by golden shiners. They stopped selling regular shiners because they were becoming a problem in some waters. The thought was golden shiners wouldn't reproduce. The regular shiners were better bait.
Growing up fishing the Merced River, I've caught many of these. I knew them as squawfish. I've caught them as far upstream as the South Fork of the Merced. They are good fighters and will take a fly.
I would love to hear stories about this pier. I haven't fished there in 60 years. My fondest memory of fishing there is catching Bonita on feathers. Loved the action. Wish not a frequent occurrence but exciting.
If you're looking for close access there's McConnell State Park. Its off El Capitan Rd. It'll get you to the Merced River. There's 3 reservoirs up stream, Merced Falls, McSwain and Exchequer.
There's access to the Tuolumne River.at Fox Grove, Waterford and La Grange. Also Don Pedro Reservoir above LA Grange.

Planning a trip to the Bridgeport area Mid July. Will be fishing the 3 Walkers. I was wondering if anyone has fished Molybdenite creek lately. I've not fished there in many years.
