Back in 1991I was working as a desk clerk at a resort on Gull Lake in Minnesota (near Brainerd). Opening day, a company had hired a dozen guides for a dozen guests. That morning I happened to be working the desk and was more than a little bummed out that I wasn't able to go out that morning myself.
By the time they got back I was done with work and waiting at one of the docks. They all seem Ed pretty happy and I hollered over to one of the guys. How did you do? The guy closest to me yelled back, " what do you think about this one and threw it up on the bank. Before I knew it I was being pummeled by walleye by all of them and they were laughing so hard I even started laughing even though I was the good natured assault victim.
Finally, I asked one of the guides jig and minnow? He laughed and said no crawlers.. huh? He showed me a three hook Crawler harness. He had three little light orange colored beads and then a chartreuse colored spinner. The spinner was followed about a half inch by the first hook and the remaining two hooks were both spaced about 1and1/2 inches apart.
To this day I have been using the exact same rig no matter the season or lake with much success!
