Not a pompano sir but definitely a jack. Compare the dorsal find of both and you’ll see the difference. Also as someone once said a pompano is more round like a dinner plate, because that’s where it’s headed.

Glad you’re ok first of all. It’s hard to keep calm when in a situation like that, but it’s key to your survival. As Graywulff mentioned hip boots and chest waders can be just as deadly. After slipping in a river while fly fishing one day my waders filled with water and damn near killed me I had to cut my waders off to even attempt to get to shore!! SCARY! I always Cary a sharp knife with me now.

Yes I’m very familiar with the gear for trout fishing.pretty much the same as New Hampshire.rooster tails and panther martins are my favorites.definitely will be bringing my fly rod as well.thank you for the offer of the gheenoe that is super generous of you.Im only going to be there for two days though and I really miss wading in a river and just enjoying the nature around me. You know what I mean? It’s my quiet time no work stress, no phones, none of the bulll shit of the real world LOL!!! I look foreword to meeting you. And ya I looked up the info you provided me Cherokee seems tone the way to go. It’s about a 9 hour drive and hotel rooms are pretty cheap I can’t wait!
