Hay it’s great fun to build your own rod. Go to mud hole and buy a cheep how to build a rod. Then find a rod you like, remember the handle and for grip has to feel good to you. I started building rods 40 years ago using a coffee cut to put it thread in and a book to run thread for tension and I still have rod. Now I have a power wrapper. One more thing when you build your own rod you take better care of it. Enjoy

10/4. Thanks Tommy.

As I said earlier, you have gotten confused/mixed up with two different stories by two different people ! My name on these posts is Al Normand and the game warden incident happened in N.H. in the late 80s ! I HAD a license and permit, just not with me at the
time ! The incident with the police chief was written by Michigan Mac; HE was fishing with alsothe police chief and realized he had NO license ! (Try to keep up ?)

I stand corrected. Please accept my apology. I had a very long and stressful day. Also i was on the forum without my glasses.good night sir.

( unquote). Now I am not a hunter and i'm new at fishing. But i do not think that a local police and a game warden or the same.please correct me if I'm wrong if so please accept my apology. Just having a good laugh here on the forum. Lol.

Wally6, just wait till next year and want to ask if you've heard of old-timer's disease? It get's worse, get used to it and adapt to the diagnosis. You lucked out by being married, I have to take a handful of aspirin along with another blood pressure pill when in this quandary. First thing I do as I'm beginning to cry over the spilled milk is to just blow it off. Just yesterday when cleaning out fishing gear after a trip, my $40 worth of Gulp lures/watertight box weren't around and I just knew they were still sitting on the public casting bank, waiting on the next one to catch a surprise and take them to the house. I found these in a first-time use of a fabric bag in the back seat of the car but haven't engrained habit for looking in this bag. Got paranoid earlier with everything you hear now about the locals and knew lures must have been stolen. On a previous outting I caught a good discount on 6 bags Gulp lures only to loose one unopened bag as I was hastily rigging my line to get one in the water. In summary, this too will pass. I maintain to keep it simple, stupid or maybe in my case, you can't fix stupid. Carry on/ give it hell/appreciate married life.

Michigan Mac, frist let me start by saying I'm also retired.I served a forty year career with the United States military. ( Army ). Have served under six precedents been around the world four times. Over three hundred thousands. Mens and women's have served under my orders as a three star General.did I make mistakes on my watch ? Sure I did. Was any of them funny ? Only One. On the day of my discharge I reported for duity at my office when I should have reported to the Pentagon which was four blocks away for my discharge.

Secondly, I'm laughing because the police chief was not your enemy.the game warden would have been .also even I know what you say here on this forum count. Lol.

I agree with plumbobo, when raising children we as parents have countless opportunity to teach life lessons a whipping or a good chewing out would have lasted for only one Day.its obvious your dad silent treatment had a life time effect on you and i am gussing that was your dad reason with the silent treatment you are still talking about it years later.

Capt Lou knows his stuff. G. Loomis sold out to Shimano in 1997, but G. Loomis rods are still made in the USA in Woodland, WA. and they are very good rods. If I wore you, and I have no idea how much money you have, but I would talk to a rodcrafter to see how much it would cost to make you one just like you wanted. He will makeu a better rod than you can buy from any sporting goods store and for less money.

Hey flyguy.can you put me in touch with a rodcrafter?if so here is my contact # ( 205-4218987) Thanks flyguy.

Might want to check these out also if your budget is high enough for Edge.
Tsunami Surf Rods.
TSTIISS1002MH 10' 2 piece 15 - 30lb 3 - 6 oz
TSTIISS1102H 11' 2 piece 20 - 40lb 4 - 6 oz

I have the 7 foot one and it casts (Open face) almost as far as my 9 foot surf rod. Don't remember the name of it. LOL Had it many years, like 20 years.
Otherwise for the price Ugly Sticks are much lower in price if you shop around.

Twenty years. Enough said : definitely putting it on my short list of top five. My budget agree with either one i make my decision on.Thanks Audigger 53.Will inform you of my decision in about a week. Thanks again. Twenty years. WOW.

Hello everybody, I am considering buying the best bait casting rod on the market.whch one do y'll recommend and why ? I have done the background on most if not all of them but cannot decide on which one to buy. I have also consider the fact that I Am still learning this game and does it make sense to make this. Kind. of investment at this time. I always try to level the playing field of my mind over my needs and my want. All recommendation and advice is highly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Honestly I worry more about my truck being stolen than I do my fishing gear.its a 1951 ford F-100. Just like the one from Samford and son I have restored it to ment condition.I have a safety security system install that will alert my phone anytime either door is open or the motor running without me entering a code frist it also does more which I will not mention sill I worry. CRAZY.

Let me start by saying that I used to have a magnetic box on my truck with a spare key for the truck in it. I boarded a 4 day fishing charter for tuna with all of my gear and the boat left the dock. We were at the bait receiver when I decided to unlock my tackle box and start rigging my rods. When I reached for my keys, I discovered I had locked them in the truck. This mistake cost me lots of dollars to purchase what tackle I could at very high prices AND I wasn't able to rig 1/3 of my rods (I had 9 rod/reel combinations on this particular trip) because the boat only carried a limited supple of tackle for sale.

Always a lesson learned from our mistakes.would be nice if some of them was not so costly..
