I've fished the Matlacha Pass Bridge often over the past 6 years (over 100 times). One of my favorites! I've seen nearly everything that's in the Gulf caught there, from 8 ft. Bull Sharks to 16-18 inch Mangrove Snappers, Black and Red Drum, Big Snook and Grouper and even Cobia! Post Ian, the parking and nighttime lighting situ is not great. Pay attention to the tide/activity charts and you'll have a great FL fishing experience
I went out on just a boat ride, no fishing yesterday probably around 4pm and saw huuuuuggggeeee bait pods between Cape Coral bridge and the boat house. There was definitely something after them I assumed lady fish cause I usually catch those there

And I agree local bait shops would have good info for you! I haven’t seen the area you mentioned much on here. Also there are some good fishing apps you can pay for that help too of course I’m forgetting the name
I totally agree! Shrimp, white fish/green backs, mullet, or lady fish! We had all but the mullet a couple weeks ago fishing there and caught a bunch of mangrove snapper and some snook (not keeper size though) at that time they were along the shore lines or the little brush islands in the shade since it was so hot! I’m over in Cape Coral and we did catch some snook the other day!! But it had to be 28’ and these weren’t quiet that long. But I saw a whole bunch of them close to the shore line in the shade since it’s been so hot
