A good day for fishing doesn't always mean its a good fishing day,Went back to Reiter hatchery, weather was beautiful but just a little chilly, hey,its winter steelhead after all,the river was crystal clear, gorgeous, but heres where the but part comes in,it was at least a foot lower than it was a week ago,so instead of having 3 plus feet to float a jig down,it was more like 18" to 24" deep and didn't see a single fish.I still tried though and hit about 5 different spots that showed the best chance of holding fish,4 hrs later and not a single bump was enough because I got hungrier than the fish were and called it a day.2 weeks ago was too much rain,last week got one to the freezer and today not enough rain,whats a river fisherman to do,pray for a little rain.We'll see what next week brings,we're supposed to get some rain,I'm gonna hope we don't get too much.
