I’m looking for a boat. I’m old and my balance is a issue. No middle seats. I have to be able to load and unload alone. Any suggestions

I’m 65 and find this center drive to be extremely stable, easy to put in and out, and I use a fighting chair on the bow to be able to fish almost 360 degrees. It is a NauticStar 211 Hybrid. (21feet)

Similar experience here. I have been teaching myself to become a fisherman this summer as a result of a new boat and retirement. Suffice it to say we all do dumb things out there. It’s how I learn. I’ve lost numerous lures in the trees and my favorite Whopper Plopper also. I didn’t just lose part of a fishing pole (however I have come close), I lost two whole fishing poles. Birds nests make us better and more careful because we hate life while we lose valuable fishing time to untangle them. I haven’t hooked myself yet but I have hooked my clothes. Catching bass with artificial lures this summer has been frustrating as I learn. Live bait catches catfish but I don’t want anymore thank you. I’m still excited every time I go out and always have a great time. Better when I catch.

Same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I took a break from actively fishing to eat a sandwich but I still had a lure in the water and two other fishing poles at the ready. A “pro” comes up on me and drifts right over my line into my space. He continues to come within easy talking distance and proceeds to cast. Mind you this is a 26 mile lake. I just looked at him and said, “you know, this is a huge lake.” He said, “I didn’t know you we’re fishing. Uh no harm.” Then he sped off with his throttle full on. Just made me wonder. A 26 mile lake and you pull up over a yellow Whopper Plopper to get in my spot. I didn’t know it was that great of a spot! Unfortunately, fishing does not require an intelligence test.

Confused. You say you just moved to Raleigh and then say Raleigh is 3 1/2 west. Lots of fishing around Raleigh

Whopper Plopper. Can fish it in total darkness on a steady retrieve. Listen for a splash that stops the plopper whirly-gig sound, reel down, feel for the weight of an attached fish and set the hook hard. If you want to average 2 pounds or better on your fish, buy the 130 size.

Thank you raddish, I will give that a go!

Good Luck Gglenn and you are welcome. Might consider taking a popping cork with you with a 2' leader on it. Sometimes they like to stay a little deeper depending on water temp and how soon the sunlight effects them.

Great stuff! Thanks!

Skitter Walker with quick jerking when it first hits the water. Then alternate between fast and slow walking the dog. Once you get a hit or two decide fast or slow.

That’s perfect plumbob. I just watched a video on that and I will go for it in the morning. Thanks!

What is your go-to lure and your best technique for early morning top water lake bass fishing?

Been doing a lot of research about different baits and I’m struggling to catch anything with a Texas rig with a soft plastic worm. I tried a couple jigs and crank bait too but just no bites at all. Any advice?
