Headed down with the boys(Gregg and Ben) to the Raritan River) to chase the stripers. Launched out out Sayersville with intentions of hitting the bay if we didn’t mark any fish. Fish were abundant in the river so no reason to head out to sea. Water temp was 50* and most of the fish were hanging near the bottom. Threw 6” paddle tail Shad’s in bunker pattern and landed 5. Many bass were simply pecking the tails and wouldn’t commit, same comments from a bunch of others we spoke to. A few more degrees and it should heat up. Felt bad for captain Ben, he hooked up with a couple but lost them.

Hello stagers,
We all know that the Blue Whale 🐋 is the largest mammal ever to inhabit the earth 🌎
My question for you today is,
what is the smallest species of Whale?
I'm sure you'll have a Whale of a time answering this one?

We have pilot whales here. We watched a pod roaming off the beach at Pacifica. Looks like a big black dolphin.

Good afternoon . Its a beautiful sun shining day . Squid on the bait menu and the bat rays were having a buffet with it . Caught four and lost three , they gave me a great workout. My bro n law caught two rays including a baby leopard . Woke up thinking of my pop's so I brought him with me by wearing his watch. I gave it to him for Father's Day in 2020. A few months after I would lose him while in my arms. "Overall it was a great day pop's having you by me"🎣✌️😎

Cheers Ricoe, to you, your bro and pop. Mine passed in '91. I think of him often.

Here's an approximation chart Sport.

Thank you Fred. That's how it's done. I caught a bunch, long time ago. Why I'm Armchair Sport now. Not out there no more. Fraid to comment with active fishers. Love the thrill, every morning. Reading everyones adventures. We get out now and then. Not like these folks. Banks here are closed, "no parking". Parks overrun by vandalous "homeless". Peaceful trips are running up and down the coast. Twenty minutes from two major rivers. We leave the region for a peaceful trip.

Tried many ways to clean seashells for decorations in the garden but none would work for any length of time. Bleach didn't work because after a short time they turned grey and chalky looking. Most Conch shells have a living organism called snail fur living on the outside of it's shell and bleach just kills it but doesn't remove it.
Finally came up with this. Took a five gallon bucket and filled it about halfway with warm water. Then poured about two cups of Muriatic Acid in. Took a pair of crab tongs and gently placed the shell into the bucket. Looked like you dropped a giant Alka-Seltzer into the bucked. The acid would dissolve the outer layer of the shell quickly along with anything growing on it. Would check with the tongs about every minute to see how clean it was before removing and washing off with the hose. Leave them in too long and the shell will be gone.

That works wonderful. We let the sun do it. Year or so.

Sometimes I'm the only one in the room doing so, but I don't care.

I worked my last 18 years at a school district. Every morning, every school broadcast load speakers. Pledge of allegiance, I stopped, hat in hand every time. Proud our students stand and pledge every day.

That's cool Steve. Probably was just learning how to feed himself. Once they get it down, they're awesome fish hunters.

It's really something to see. I was drifting the rowboat off Fashoda, Union Valley Res. Watching a pair of bald eagles teaching the youngster, circle and dive. Snatching rainbows off the surface.

Oh man, I gotta buy more plugs? Just kidding. You throwing them spinning ? Not sure I can cast that light one. I'll try it. What could go wrong ?

Have they worked for you?

No. They will. Got to put in my time and learn them. Great action. Throwing them on a medium 7' ugly/blackmax casting combo. I like them. I have 85's and 75's. Blue, craw, couple others. Staying home close to the blankets now. Hibernating. Remind me of some old jigs I have called diggers. Stand on their nose right on the bottom.
