Served in Vietnam 1966-67. It seems that the Vietnam Vet wasn't well received back in the day but I just wanted to tell this story. Don't remember if it was '66 or '67 but one of those years. The 24th Evac Hospital at Long Bihn sent word that they were in need of Type O Positive Blood. About 6-8 of us guys from the nearby MP Bn that had that type volunteered and went to the 24th Evac to donate. When we arrived the Dr. on duty told us that the patient was a Vietnam National and possibly a VC and if any of us wanted to leave and not donate he would understand. One of the guys (don't remember his name) stated: "He's still a human being ain't he!" Not one of us left and we donated blood while they were doing surgery on the patient nearby. I just wanted to give a salute to those guys and let people know that the young men that served in Vietnam were some of the best. I was really proud of these MP's.

Hey all, I’ve had a couple different people tell me different answers about what kind of trout this is. Anyone know? I caught it in a lake in Yosemite. I probably should know, but I don’t fish a lot, mostly just on backpacking trips.

Beautiful cutthroat and beautiful country, may even have a Big-foot for a fishing companion! It must really be exciting to cast a fly out in that lake.

Love fishing at Cedar Key and, like others have noted, you may catch anything off the pier. We've hooked some huge black drum, great fun trying to get in. Also caught shark, trout, topsail catfish, and other species. Also the town of Cedar Key is such a great place with a lot of nice people. We mostly use shrimp as bait. I like to use a whole shrimp, seems all species of fish like shrimp, me too. Hope you have a great time fishing at Cedar Key and I hope be be visiting soon.

It's hard to beat flathead catfish in the 3-4 lb range, the only fish that may be as good or a tad better is walleye. A lot of the smaller pan fish are also good eating. I usually release other species of fish to try to catch again another day. The other day I saw a 17 year catch a large smallmouth bass, he released it stating he wanted it to spread it's DNA. Thought this was pretty wise for a 17 year old. Nice kid.

I have been having some recent issues with fatigue and shortness of breath, and more so the past few days. My primary care doctor sent me to the Cardiologist yesterday, where they did an EKG. It showed some “irregularities”, so he is sending me to have a heart cath done early tomorrow morning, at the hospital, to see what they can find out. I would very much appreciate the prayers of all of you who believe in the power of prayer. I hope and pray it is nothing serious, but there are even some risks involved in the procedure; not to mention, I can ALWAYS use a few extra prayers anyway! 🥴
I will let y’all know how it goes, once I know more.
Thank you, everyone! 🙏🏻

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. You really gave me a lot of info and it's much appreciated. I see from some of your advice some of the things I've been doing wrong. I enjoy all your posts and the great pictures of the bass caught. One more problem might be that I quit smoking years ago but at one time did enjoy a good cigar now and then. Take care and good froggin'.

Thunderstorms were getting closer all the time but I did get in a few hours. Same frogs as yesterday . My experiment with the stringer hooks was interesting. Way toooo weedy here for them. Might be good in clear water seemed to trail alright , right up to the part where it caught every piece of grass it went past. So back to Booyah jr. and the little black frog. Did loose a couple to the Lilly pad stems but got 9 in the yac before natures fireworks started, don't take long to get out of the water once that starts. Don't mind the rain but that other stuff is nothing to play around with⚡⚡⚡🌩️⛈️.Have a great safe 4th of July everyone🎇🎇🎆🧨 🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸🇺🇲🇺🇲

Hi Andy - I consider you an expert on using frogs for catching bass and have a question that you can probably help me with. I have bass come for a top-water frog but at the last second turn away without striking. What am I doing wrong. I'm sure there's something in my rigging or presentation that alerts the bass. Thanks.

I've caught warmouths but don't know how large they can get. I'm guessing around 1.5 lbs and North Carolina or South Carolina as the state with record. They are very similar to a rock bass (redeye) but seem to have larger mouth.
