Had a good day Friday on Lake Martin - 7 LMB and 2 Spots. Most were 1.5 to 2 lbs but this one was 4 lbs.

The water temp must be right cause the Large Mouth Bass are really starting to run right now. We caught 12 nice fish on Thursday, another 9 on Friday and 7 this morning. That’s 28 nice fish in three days and that doesn’t include another dozen that we lost. Fun time to fish right now.

Looks like the bait fish are starting to school up near the surface. Has anyone had any luck finding Spots or Stripers in the shallows yet?

Yep. The same thing happened to me fishing in Florida last winter. We finished fishing and then a quick fix back at the campground.

We tried shiners a few times but we’ve had better luck with the worms so we don’t waste our money on shiners anymore.

We caught two nice large mouth bass this week. The first one was 6 lb 4 ounces and the second one was 6 lb 11 ounces. Big fish have to go back in the water but the second fish swallowed the hook so bad that he didn’t make it, so we had to keep him. It’s been a good week and the weather is starting to warm up. So it’s all good in central Florida.

Right now the bass seem to be very active in every lake. We are limiting out most days, no matter where we are fishing.

We managed to get 12 LMB yesterday, and kept 10. Today we caught 8 LMB and 1 Gar in 4 hours. Since we had fish in the freezer from yesterday, today was a catch and release day. Everyone we talked to caught lots of fish. I don’t know how long it’s gonna last, but it sure is fun right now.

Yes we definitely put that one back. We generally keep a couple of the small fish for lunch, but we always return the larger ones so we can catch them again at a later date.

Caught my personal best large mouth bass yesterday morning in Avon Park Florida - 8 pounds 8 ounces and 25” long. That one is gonna be hard to beat.

The larger ones are just over 3 lbs and the others are all around 2 lbs.

Managed to get a few large mouth bass for a nice fish fry in central Florida. Seven is a nice number but we probably missed just as many. Tight lines everyone.
