Thanks for the tips Jack. I have two 7 ft medium rods for pier fishing with a 6000 Kastking and 4000 Abu Garcia. I'm thinking of getting a 12 ft'er and two 10's for surf. Your insight is very helpful in my decision making. Will check out your site. Thanks, Jerry

Thanks Windtalker, I visited the Garden City Pier. Met a few knowledgable fishermen that gave me some good advise to get started. Found that this pier is only open Fri-Sun until March. I also checked out the Myrtle Beach State Park Pier. That looks interesting as well. Over 65 can get a annual pass for only $50.
