I grew up near there and use to fish rend lake a lot. I recommend going to the spill way and get a bunch of shad. You can use them whole or as cut bait. Never had any problems with them. We used a cast net to catch them. You might find some there on sight with a net that might give you some. Good luck and tight lines!!!
I live in the Fort Worth area. In Lake Worth, along HYWY 199 there is a bait shop slightly off the corner. JUST past Whataburger a little ways (east side).
Also might try Angler’s Pro down Rufe Snow Dr, near Watauga.
