Looking to ice fish for first time next year.
Would anyone be willing to teach a rookie?

I love Ice Fishing. I'm from Utah but live in Idaho now. I wish you were closer to me because now that I'm 70 I just don't like to go alone anymore. I do have a lifetime Utah license and get down there once in a while. But most of my Utah friends come up here for Ice Fishing.

We were at the Juniper side of Ririe Friday. We still can't find the kokanee, but we done well on the rainbows. We were trolling at 25 feet with orange flatfish and orange with black dots. Nothing big but good fighting 1 1/2 pounders.

If you are trolling: Rapalas at American Falls. Blackfoot Res. and Ririe troll flashers and Kokanee hoochies, they catch trout also. Fishing from the bank: Nite crawlers, corn and marsh mellow. And I like gold castmasters from the bank also.

Welcome to the site Peter. Sorry I can't tell you much about Mud Lake. I have only fished it once. And that was Ice fishing 15 years ago. We just got tiny perch or blue gill I think. American Falls and Gem Lake are closer and have good Small Mouth.

Love to fish for trout

Hi Ericjulei. Welcome to the site. I'm from Roy. I lived in Utah most of my life. Caught my first trout when I was 4 years old on East Canyon Creek. That would be 1957. If I had to pick a favorite trout spot it would be
Flaming Gorge or the Green River below the Dam.

Can't wait to get on Strawberry at ice off. Any updates from anyone would be appreciated. We need a camera on that lake.

Welcome to the site Dave. I'm from Utah and Strawberry is one of my favorites. I heard there was some open water by the ladders. It won't be long. I'm sending you a PM.

Cats are starting to bite.

Water rising but fairly clear and too cold still. Nothing bitting. The walleye should be stacking in the channel.

I hear the cats are bitting aready, but the walleye and white bass a little tight lipped. I love Lincoln Beach and they say the water is high enough to launch there now. It should fill up this year so I can get back in the brush and wrestle the cats out.

With the high water, there aren't many options right now. I recommend going to Flaming Gorge and fish the Green River below the dam. Artificial lure only, it is awesome fishing for huge Rainbow and Browns. The water should be clear enough to see them.

Question of the day,
What is best way to rig up anchovies for Strippers at Bill Williams inlet area?
Would appreciate the help as I am new to stripper fishing
Thanks a Bunch!

I've never fished Bill W. but I have fished Lake Mead with anchovies. We cut about a 1/4 or 1/3 of the anchovy, with the head; off. Then thread the rest, with the tail, onto the hook. For some reason the head ends don't work. I have tried the head end before, and never got a bite on anything but the big shad that are in Mead.

How’s the fishing up by warm river campground and are the roads open?

Hi, I have never fished warm river. I just wanted to say hello and welcome you to the site since you're so close to me here in Blackfoot. What other fishing do you like? I could always use another fishing friend.

Shawn 2 with the first fish he caught. He was pissed it was trout. He caught some 14 to 16 inch bass and a lot smaller.
