Where on the river? Was looking to fish tomorrow morning if you want company. I'm in a kayak
All that said, I have only caught stripers on sand worms so far this year. Haven't hit my lures or chunk for me.
I have used spinning reels my whole life. I bought the hype and got some baitcasting set ups this winter and spring. I have found that at my age of 52, it is very challenging to become as proficient at using a baitcaster as a spinning set up. Can't quite cast as far or as accurately and get more tangles...I am sure with a lot more practice, it may get better but as someone else said...why change what works. Been using my old set ups.
Hello all. Been reading posts for a while and finally registered so I can post and comment. Always love exchanging knowledge, thoughts and ideas for all things fishing. Grew up on Long Island fishing the Great South Bay. Hadn't fished much the past bunch of years but got into fishing here in CT last year during pandemic time and am fully on board. It's a different game than I grew up with. Have a fishing kayak coming next week (that's all new to me!) and like to fish both salt and fresh water but am definitely more of a saltwater fan.
