Early morning carp fishing these BIG fish are slowly cruising up and down the river, they leave quite a wake too.Today was the first time I got a pic of two fins, closest guess is a striped bass, they are running up the Connecticut River heavy.

GOD Bless

Chris

Looks to me like the short dorsal fin of a striper. They do get big - 30/40 pounds easy. And they're not that hard to catch if you want to try. Top water when they're cruising like that. Zara spook and walk the dog. Be ready.

That dorsal fin makes me think it’s a Blue Snark.

"Just the place for a Snark!" the Bellman cried, as he landed his crew with care

Dorsal fin on most carp is pretty long compared to the one in the picture. Don't look like no carp to me. And I know carp sometimes jump out the water, but I've never seen one cruising along like that unless the water was very shallow. The like to stick to the bottom so they can stir things up and eat it.

I’m not seeing any evidence of the two dorsal fins that I’d expect to see if it is a striped. Big scales though…
Hope you catch one so you can share a positive ID with us tomorrow!

I'm up here in Agawam on River Road,it runs parallel with the river,Six Flags is in my back yard.I'll be going metal detecting tomorrow with a friend and won't be fishing again until Monday,I normally go for carp really extreme fighters, although I do want to plug for those cruisers.I hit the river every morning weather permitting at 5.You are more than welcome to join me anytime.
