How does one go about surf fishing for ocean perch in Washington state? Flood tide or ebb tide? What kind of bait?
Yellow perch are plentiful in Washington state. They love night crawlers.
I was fishing for rainbows on Duck Lake in Washington from a public fishing dock. There is often river otters hanging around. I had two beautiful 5 pound fish, on a metal chain stringer with the snap hooks, sitting in the water with the other end of the chain attached to the mooring cleat on the dock. I had my back turned for a couple minutes and when I went to look at the stringer there was only 1/2 of a fish left. The tail end of one fish was chewed clean off. The other fish was completely gone. Funny thing is the snap hook was still snapped! How in the world did that wiley otter get the entire fish off of the stringer without unclipping the snap? I'll never understand that.
Being a professional chef for 45 years I can assure you that any fillet knife will be fine as long as it is razor sharp.
Any fillet knife will do as long as it is razor sharp. Take it from a chef of 45 years.
Went to the local convenience store to buy night crawlers for fishing. They were marked at 2 dollars. The guy at the cash register said that will be $2.18. I said "I thought there was no sales tax on food in this state". He said "this isn't food, it's fish bait". I asked "if I eat one will you waive the sales tax?" No, but nice try.
Taduyser, i inject air into the worm or night crawler in two or three places. Whatever it takes to fill it up with air and make it plump. Whether or not it actually increases the chances of a bite is debatable. But I do know for a fact that it makes the critter float for quite a few minutes.
Fish4fun, Where did you find those magnetic rod holders for your car top?
On the Columbia river bordering Washington and Oregon you can fish the river using either states license. That MIGHT apply in your case
Sometimes I inject the worm with air using a hypodermic needle to make it float up from the bottom making the offering more visible.
I've had pretty good luck with Berkley chartreuse garlic dough bait for still fishing. Blue Fox or Rooster tail for trolling.
Flytier, that's what I do
That's one big a.. crawdad
