thanks . . .have also found some good fishing in upper hat creek, closer to lassen park . .. a little tough to get around on unmarked dirt roads but worth the effort . . .

i have a lot of favorite spots but primarily fish the creek, with the exception of baum lake . . .
curious if anyone has some good spots other than hat creek itself, such as nearby lakes, etc.

Not sure if it is mentioned in one of these responses, but fishing with flies -- especially barbless flies -- makes it so much easier to practice catch and release as opposed to bait fishing, where fish often swallow the hook . . . same basic principle applies to fishing with lures . . . often you can let a fish get off the line by itself with a loose line and never actually have to touch the fish . . . just a thought . ..
